Public holidays settings

New Zealand’s public holidays for your region, and your workshop closure days.

When to use

  • You set your workshop’s region.
  • You add a shutdown, for example over Christmas.

Only Owners can change these.

Overview

The public holidays are built in and calculated each year. They include the official Matariki dates and your region’s anniversary day. You cannot type them in, which is deliberate. A public holiday on someone’s working day goes on their timesheet at their work calendar’s hours.

The page shows each holiday for this year and next, with its date and whether Monday to Friday staff get it on that date.

Key features

  • Workshop region (anniversary day). Choose your region and select Save region.
  • Weekend holidays. A holiday that falls on a weekend moves to the Monday (or Tuesday) only for people who do not normally work that day. Someone whose work calendar includes Saturday gets a Saturday holiday on the Saturday.
  • Workshop closures. Days the workshop is closed. They show on the leave calendar. Staff apply for annual leave to cover them. Leave days are not skipped on closure days.
  • Working a public holiday. Hours worked on a holiday are marked on the timesheet and export under the Public holiday worked pay code. The payroll system works out the rate and any alternative holiday.

How to: set your region

  1. Go to Settings, then Public holidays.
  2. Choose the Workshop region (anniversary day).
  3. Select Save region.

How to: add a closure

  1. Under Workshop closures, enter the First day, Last day and a Label, for example Christmas shutdown.
  2. Select Add closure.

Use Remove to take one away.

Tips & gotchas

  • An Owner or Supervisor can decide, for one person and one holiday, whether it is an otherwise working day. See Timesheets.
  • Whether public holidays not worked are exported is set on Payroll settings.
