Job cards

Print a job card to take onto the workshop floor. It has the details the technician needs, space to write, and a QR code that opens the job on a phone.

When to use

  • You start a job and want a paper card for the technician.
  • A job needs its checklists printed with it.
  • You want to reprint a card.

Anyone who can see the job can print its card, including the shared workshop PC.

Overview

Open a job and select Job card. The card opens in a print view. Select Print to print it from your browser on A4.

Key features

What the card shows

  • A band across the top in the job type’s colour, with the type’s name in it, so cards can be told apart even in black and white.
  • Your workshop’s logo, name, phone and address. For a field job, the site address, site contact and phone replace the workshop line.
  • JOB CARD, the job number in large type, and a QR code.
  • Site hazards and PPE for field jobs, in a box near the top.
  • Customer with phone, the contact, and the customer’s Order no.
  • Asset with rego, fleet number, VIN, serial, HIN or vessel, Meter in, Last service and Next due.
  • Type, location, booked date, expected hours and allocated staff.
  • Work requested.
  • Parts on the job with quantity, code, description and status.
  • Write-in areas: Work done, Parts used, Oils, Labour (date, start, finish, hours, km), meter out, next service due, and technician and date.

What it never shows

Prices, costs and margins. They are never on a job card.

Printing is recorded

Printing is recorded in the job’s history. A reprint says Reprint with the date it was first printed.

The QR code

The QR code holds only the job’s web address. Scanning it with a phone that is signed in opens the job on the phone. A phone that is not signed in goes to sign-in first.

How to: print a job card

  1. Open the job and select Job card.
  2. If the job has checklists, tick Include checklists to print them after the card, each on its own page.
  3. Select Print.

How to: print a job card from the shared PC

  1. On the job dashboard, select Job card beside the job number.
  2. Select Print.

Tips & gotchas

  • A typical card fits on one A4 page. A job with a long parts list runs onto a second page.
  • Choose the job type’s colour carefully. See Job types settings.
  • Set your logo on Workshop settings.
  • If the QR code does not scan, type the job number into Find a job.
